About Takayanagi Japanese Green Tea

A refined taste full of commitment

Adopted by the most prestigious hotels and restaurants in Tokyo.
We wanted to answer new expectations by offering this very exceptional quality and flavor
tea.
It is the association of several crops, in collaboration with producers who have selected their best teas.
It was developed after multiple trials (volume of tea leaves, temperature and infusion time) that lasted over a year.

Takayanagi Seicha was founded in 1902 and has a long history of 110 years.
We have introduced the steamed tea from Makinohara, our hometown, to Shizuoka since the beginning of development, and passed the delicious flavor of the tea to the locals.

Where is this tea grown?

Coming from the plateau of Makinohara, on the right side of the river Oi, the plantation covers an area of 5300 hectares.
First tea production area in Japan, It represents about 12% of the total area of Japanese tea plantations.
Its land, climate and altitude are the perfect combination for tea cultivation.

What does Fukamushi-cha mean?

The specificity of Fukamushi teas comes from their “special or extreme steaming”, which is 2 to 3 times longer than that of sencha tea.
This gives at this liquor a sweetness with vegetal notes.

What does Kabuse mean?

Kabuse are so-called “shaded” teas. The tea leaves are covered 5 to 7 days before their harvest to block the intense sun exposure, giving it a more pronounced taste than a classic sencha.
The Kabuse is less astringent, and has a slight very pleasant bitterness.

About Makinohara Shizuku-cha tea

Makinohara Shizuku-cha is a premium bottling tea that uses Makinohara’s “Fukamushi Kabuse tea leaves”.
Currently, the number of households enjoying authentic and delicious “green tea” in Kyusu (Japanese Teapot) is decreasing, and inexpensive green tea drinks using a second tea are spreading.
Although it is sufficient as a drink that you usually drink, it is difficult to appreciate the aroma and umami of “green tea” as a Japanese culture, and the aim is to maximize the charm of green tea without using by Kyusu.
Bringing out the flavor and umami, we took on the development challenge by generously injecting finishing technology and craftsmanship that made full use of our unique full finishing machine, not relying on the aroma of combustion.
It has a unique taste with less bitterness and astringency.

About the Cold Extraction Manufacturing Method

Makinohara Shizuku-cha tea uses a manufacturing method that maximizes flavor.
Extracted by Benefitea’s patented “Cold Extraction Manufacturing Method “.
A manufacturing method that extracts the extract by condensing the original ingredients of the tea leaf raw material.
・ Only use tea leaves and water (safety)
